The Dragon’s Bedtime Story
Once upon a time in a land far, far away, there was a magical forest. In the heart of this forest, there lived a dragon named Drako. Drako was not like the dragons you see in old stories. He wasn’t fierce or scary. Instead, he was gentle and kind, with shimmering scales that changed colors depending on his mood. When he was happy, his scales sparkled like the sun; when he was sad, they turned a deep, dark blue.
Drako had a problem. He couldn’t fall asleep at night. Every evening, as the sun set and the stars began to twinkle, Drako would lie in his cozy cave, tossing and turning. He tried counting sheep, but they all looked too much like fluffy clouds to him. He tried listening to the soothing sounds of the forest, but the rustling leaves and chirping crickets only made him more restless. Poor Drako just couldn’t find a way to drift off to dreamland.
One night, as Drako was lying awake, he heard a soft voice. It was the voice of a little girl named Lily. Lily lived in a village near the edge of the forest. She had snuck out of her house to find her lost puppy, who had wandered into the woods. Drako could hear her calling, “Puppy, where are you?” Her voice was filled with worry and fear.
Drako knew he had to help. He carefully crawled out of his cave and followed the sound of Lily’s voice. He found her sitting on a rock, tears streaming down her face. “Don’t be afraid,” Drako said softly. Lily looked up, her eyes wide with surprise. “You’re a dragon!” she exclaimed. “I know,” Drako replied with a gentle smile. “But I’m not here to hurt you. I heard you calling for your puppy. Let me help you find him.”
Together, they searched the forest. Drako’s bright eyes could see in the dark, and his big wings helped them move quickly through the trees. Finally, they found the puppy tangled in some bushes. Lily hugged her puppy tightly, and Drako felt a warm feeling in his heart. He had helped someone, and it made him feel good.
As they walked back to the village, Lily told Drako about her bedtime stories. “My mom always reads me stories about brave knights and magical creatures,” she said. “But I’ve never heard a story about a kind dragon like you.” Drako thought for a moment. “Would you like to hear a story about me?” he asked. Lily nodded eagerly.
So, Drako began to tell Lily a story. It was about a young dragon who lived in a magical forest. This dragon had a special gift—he could talk to animals and understand their feelings. One day, the forest was in trouble. A big storm had knocked down many trees, and the animals were scared and confused. The dragon decided to help. He used his strong wings to clear a path through the fallen trees. He talked to the animals, reassuring them that everything would be okay. And slowly, the forest began to heal.
Lily listened to the story with wide eyes. When Drako finished, she smiled. “That was the best story I’ve ever heard,” she said. “Thank you, Drako.” Drako felt happy inside. He realized that telling stories might be the key to helping him fall asleep.
From that night on, Drako began to tell himself bedtime stories. He imagined adventures with his friends in the forest, helping animals and solving problems. He told stories about flying over mountains and exploring hidden caves. And every night, as he listened to his own voice, he felt more and more relaxed. The worries of the day faded away, and he finally found peace.
One night, as Drako was drifting off to sleep, he had a wonderful dream. In his dream, he saw Lily and her puppy, and they were all flying together on his back, laughing and enjoying the magical night sky. Drako smiled in his sleep, knowing that he had finally found the perfect way to end his day.
And so, the dragon’s bedtime story became a tradition. Every night, Drako would tell himself a new story, and every night, he would fall asleep with a happy heart. And in the village, Lily would also tell her friends and family about the kind dragon who lived in the forest. And they all knew that sometimes, the most magical stories are the ones that help us find our way to dreamland.
The end.
