Princess and the Frog Bedtime Story
Once upon a time in a faraway kingdom, there was a beautiful princess named Emily. She had golden hair that shone like the sun and eyes as blue as the sky. Princess Emily lived in a grand castle with her loving parents, the king and queen. The castle was surrounded by lush green gardens, where flowers bloomed in every color imaginable. Emily loved to explore these gardens, especially the pond near the castle walls, where the water was crystal clear and the fish swam gracefully.
One sunny afternoon, Emily decided to visit the pond. She was feeling a bit lonely and thought that maybe the fish would be good company. As she walked along the garden path, she noticed something sparkling in the grass. It was a beautiful golden ball, the most beautiful she had ever seen. Emily picked it up and admired its perfect shape and the way it caught the sunlight. She decided to take it to the pond and play with it there.
When Emily reached the pond, she sat down on the grassy bank and began to play with the golden ball. She threw it up in the air and caught it, laughing with delight. But suddenly, she threw the ball a little too hard, and it flew out of her hands and into the pond. Emily gasped in horror as she watched the ball sink beneath the water. She was so sad because it was her favorite toy, and she didn’t know how to get it back.
Just then, a voice called out from the water. “Why are you crying, Princess?” Emily looked down and saw a little green frog sitting on a lily pad. The frog had big, friendly eyes and a kind smile. “I lost my golden ball,” Emily explained, tears in her eyes. “It fell into the pond, and I can’t swim to get it back.” The frog looked thoughtful for a moment, then said, “I can help you, Princess. I can dive into the water and fetch your ball for you. But in return, you must promise to do something for me.” Emily was so grateful that she quickly agreed. “Anything,” she said. “I’ll do anything you ask.” The frog smiled and dived into the water. After a few moments, he came back up, holding the golden ball in his mouth. Emily was overjoyed and took the ball from the frog. “Thank you so much,” she said. “What can I do for you?”
The frog looked at her with a twinkle in his eyes. “Promise me that you will let me live with you in the castle,” he said. “I want to be your friend and share your meals and your company.” Emily thought for a moment. She had never had a frog friend before, but she didn’t want to break her promise. “Alright,” she said. “You can live with me in the castle.” The frog hopped onto her shoulder, and they walked back to the castle together.
When they arrived, Emily’s parents were surprised to see the frog with her. “What is this?” asked the king. Emily explained everything that had happened, and how the frog had helped her get her ball back. The king and queen looked at each other and then at the frog. “Very well,” said the king. “You may stay with us, but you must remember that our castle is not like your pond. You must follow our rules and be polite.” The frog nodded and promised to be a good guest.
For a few days, the frog lived in the castle. He ate his meals with Emily and played with her toys. But he missed the pond and his friends there. One evening, as Emily was getting ready for bed, the frog hopped onto her bed. “Princess,” he said, “I miss my home. I miss the pond and the other frogs. I don’t think I can be happy here.” Emily felt sad for her friend. She realized that even though he was a good guest, he belonged in the pond. “I understand,” she said. “You can go back to the pond whenever you want. You will always be my friend, and I will visit you often.” The frog smiled and gave her a big hug. “Thank you, Princess,” he said. “You are the kindest person I have ever met.” With that, he hopped off the bed and out of the room.
The next morning, Emily went to the pond to see her friend. She found him sitting on a lily pad, looking happy and content. “Good morning, Princess,” he said. “I’m glad you came to see me.” Emily smiled and sat down on the grass beside the pond. “I’m glad you’re happy here,” she said. “I’ll come to visit you every day, and we can play together.” The frog hopped over to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Suddenly, a magical glow surrounded them, and the frog began to change. He grew taller and more handsome, and his green skin turned into soft, smooth skin. “I am a prince,” he said, “but I was cursed to live as a frog until a kind-hearted princess kissed me. You have broken the spell, and now I am free.” Emily was amazed and happy for her friend. “I’m so glad,” she said. “But I don’t care if you’re a prince or a frog. You will always be my friend.” The prince smiled and took her hand. “And you will always be my princess,” he said. “Let’s go back to the castle and start a new life together.” And so, they walked back to the castle, hand in hand, ready to face whatever adventures life had in store for them. The end.
