In a quaint village nestled between rolling hills, there lived a miller who had a lovely daughter with a golden heart. The miller, seeking to impress the king, boasted that his daughter possessed the extraordinary ability to spin straw into gleaming gold. The king, intrigued by this claim, summoned the girl and locked her in a tower room, piled high with straw, demanding that she spin it all into gold by dawn or face a grim fate.

The girl, her eyes brimming with tears, sat helplessly amidst the straw. Suddenly, a peculiar little man appeared, his eyes twinkling mischievously. He introduced himself as Rumpelstiltskin and offered to weave the straw into gold, but at a price. The desperate girl, seeing no other way out, promised him her necklace. With a flourish of his hands, Rumpelstiltskin spun the straw into shimmering gold. The king, delighted, locked her in an even larger room the next day.

Again, Rumpelstiltskin appeared, this time in exchange for her ring. And so it went, until the king locked her in the grandest room of all, filled to the brim with straw. Rumpelstiltskin returned and said, “This time, you must promise me your firstborn child when you are queen.” The girl, with a heavy heart, agreed.

When the girl became queen and bore a child, Rumpelstiltskin returned to claim his due. The queen, unwilling to part with her child, pleaded for a way out. Rumpelstiltskin, with a sly grin, gave her three days to guess his name. If she failed, he would take the child.

On the first day, the queen guessed many common names, but Rumpelstiltskin only laughed. On the second day, she tried again with no success. On the third day, a messenger arrived, having overheard Rumpelstiltskin singing his name in the woods. The queen guessed “Rumpelstiltskin,” and the little man, in a fit of rage, stamped his foot so hard that he disappeared into the earth, never to be seen again.
